PANTERA: A Legacy of Metal

PANTERA, a titan of heavy metal, recently launched their 2025 European headlining tour on January 21, starting in Helsinki, Finland. The reformed lineup features original members Philip Anselmo (vocals) and Rex Brown (bass) alongside Zakk Wylde (guitar) and Charlie Benante (drums). This new chapter for PANTERA celebrates their rich history while introducing their sound to a new generation of fans. Supporting them on this tour are well-known acts CHILD BITE and POWER TRIP.

PANTERA’s legacy is marked by tragedy and triumph. Founded by the Abbott brothers, Vinnie Paul and "Dimebag" Darrell, the band achieved significant success throughout the 1990s. However, the music world was shaken on December 8, 2004, when Dimebag was tragically shot and killed during a live performance with DAMAGEPLAN in Columbus, Ohio, an event that reverberated through the metal community. Vinnie Paul and Anselmo’s relationship soured following the incident, complicating the band’s history. Vinnie passed away in June 2018, further cementing PANTERA’s legacy bound by both unity and discord.

The band performed its first show after reformation in December 2022 at Mexico’s Hell & Heaven Metal Fest. Zakk Wylde, a long-time friend of Dimebag, was regarded as the perfect choice to fill the guitarist slot, having collaborated closely with the band throughout their storied career.
