Cherry Audio announce Pro Soloist soft synth

The latest addition to Cherry Audio’s ever-expanding collection of software synthesizers recreates a sought-after classic originally released in 1972 by ARP. Pro Soloist not only emulates the original instrument of the same name and all of its presets, but also kits it out with polyphony, split and layer functions, a modulation matrix, some built-in effects and more.

A Performance mode provides users with precise recreations of all of the original instruments paddle presets, all of which can be selected via MIDI. An Edit mode then reveals the synth’s parameters, including the Resonator Bank, a collection of five parallel band-pass filters that were the key to the acoustic orchestra timbres.

As well as recreating the sound of the original, Cherry Audio have taken the opportunity to expand its capabilities with a collection of modern features, too. A dual-layer voicing architecture with 16 voices per layer replace the original’s monophonic design, and allows users to run two presets simultaneously with independent per-preset panning options. There is also a split keyboard mode, as well as an option that makes it possible to simulate polyphonic aftertouch using a monophonic aftertouch controller.

The Edit mode also provides access to the LFO and ADSR/AR envelopes used to create the preset sounds, whilst a Super Wave oscillator and six-slot modulation matrix offer a wealth of sound design options not available on the hardware unit. Finally, an Arp/FX mode delivers a sync’able arpeggiator along with distortion, phaser, flanger/chorus, echo and reverb effects.

Pro Soloist is supported on PCs running Windows 7 and above, and Macs running macOS 10.13 or higher. VST, VST3, AU and AAX plug-in versions are available.
