Rode has unveiled its latest addition to its range of wireless microphones, the Wireless ME system. This package includes a transmitter and receiver, both of which feature a built-in microphone. The Wireless ME system utilizes Rode’s Series IV 2.4GHz digital transmission, which uses a proprietary codec and 128-bit encryption to ensure near-zero latency performance and deliver crystal-clear, stable audio while boasting best-in-class operation range.
The Wireless ME system is an ideal solution for content creators who require a quick and easy way to record audio both in front of and behind the camera. Both units included with the system are paired out of the box, allowing for a quick and simple setup and instant operation.
In addition to the built-in microphone on the transmitter, the receiver is also equipped with its own microphone, making it possible to capture two-way interviews or create voiceovers for video content. For those who prefer to use their existing microphone, the transmitter is equipped with an external input. The system can be expanded with a second Wireless ME or Wireless GO II transmitter, enabling users to set up dual-channel recordings or utilize a third microphone input.
Rode’s GainAssist technology is present, helping to maintain a continuous recording level and avoid clipping. This technology is significantly more advanced than the standard automatic gain features found on cameras and other audio devices, which often suffer from elevated levels of background noise and ‘gain pumping.’
The overall output level can be adjusted to match the destination recording device, and all of these level features can be controlled from the Rode Central companion app for desktop and mobile platforms. The system is designed to work seamlessly with all cameras, as well as iOS and Android smartphones, and both macOS and Windows-based desktop computers.
In addition to the Wireless ME system, Rode has also launched a new app designed specifically for modern video creators. The Rode Capture app offers direct in-app control over Rode products such as the Wireless ME, Wireless GO II, VideoMic GO II, and more, allowing users to turn on and off features, activate DSP, adjust audio levels, and carry out advanced configurations.
The Rode Capture app includes a wealth of video capture and editing features, providing users with control over their camera’s aspect ratio, resolution, frame rate, and zoom settings. Dual Cam mode is also present, allowing simultaneous recording of a mobile device’s front and rear cameras in either a split-screen or picture-in-picture mode, making it possible to capture an interviewer and interviewee using a single device.
Overall, the Wireless ME system and Rode Capture app provide a comprehensive solution for content creators, making it easy to record high-quality audio and video content with ease. The system’s features, such as its GainAssist technology and ability to adjust output levels, make it an excellent option for users who need a reliable and easy-to-use wireless microphone system.
